AP false news report

Associated Press false information about Paul Ryan, the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives

| By Greg Fisher

The website of the news service the Associated Press falsely states, "'This report underscores what we already know about Hillary Clinton: she simply cannot be trusted,' said House Majority Leader Paul Ryan, in a statement."

Ryan is Speaker, not Majority Leader. Kevin McCarthy is Majority Leader.

The story containing the statement, dated May 26, was written by Lisa Lerer. Jill Colvin and Ken Thomas contributed. Gary Pruitt is the president and chief executive officer of the AP and Kathleen Carroll is "Senior Vice President and Executive Editor." The AP lists Mary Junck, Lee Enterprises, Inc., as its chairman of its board of directors.

Junck is also the executive chairman of Lee Enterprises, the operator of the daily newspaper the "St. Louis Post Dispatch[SIC]." The newspaper, itself, uses a hypen in its name. Gilbert Bailon is its editor.

Despite a demand for correction, the Post-Dispatch website still includes the same false statement made by the AP.
