Truth and Falsity A documentation of false information

Peter Brookes' false information

The insanity thing goes back a long way with the Heritage Foundation

| By Greg Fisher

In 2009, Peter Brookes falsely wrote, "____ once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, while expecting a different result."

No, he didn't. That is not true. The famous scientist said nothing of the sort.

Brookes was attempting to be erudite but fell flat on his face.

This is an example of proving what is, and is not, true. Nobody questioning the author's statement has to prove its falsity; the author has to prove its truth.

Or look ridiculous, that is.

You can find that false statement (with many others) in the internet domain heritage.org. Brookes is identified as "Senior Research Fellow, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Counter Proliferation, Center for National Defense" and looks very serious. He says, in a social media profile, that he is an "Award-winning outdoor writer."

Hopefully, he didn't win anything for his false information.
